What is a UK Student Visa?

The UK Student Visa, also known as the Tier 4 (General) Student Visa, is required for international students planning to study a full-time course in the UK that lasts more than 6 months.

Who Needs This Visa?

Any Bangladeshi or international student accepted by a recognized UK institution for a full-time course of more than 6 months needs a UK Study Visa.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Unconditional offer from a UK institution (CAS letter)
  • Proof of English proficiency (IELTS UKVI or equivalent)
  • Sufficient funds for tuition and living expenses
  • Genuine Student Test clearance

Required Documents:

  • Valid Passport
  • Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)
  • Bank Statement (showing funds held for at least 28 days)
  • TB Test Certificate
  • Passport-size Photo
  • Academic Certificates & Transcripts
  • English Language Test Certificate

Step-by-Step Application Process:

  1. Apply and receive CAS from a UK institution
  2. Fill out the online Student Visa application
  3. Pay the Visa Fee and Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS)
  4. Book an appointment at VFS Global
  5. Submit documents and provide biometrics
  6. Wait for the decision and collect your visa-stamped passport

Visa Fees and Costs:

  • Visa Fee: £490
  • IHS Fee: £776 per year
  • IELTS UKVI: ৳22,000 – ৳25,000
  • TB Test: ৳3,500 – ৳4,000

Financial Requirements:

Students must show they can cover tuition fees and 9 months of living expenses:

  • Outside London: £1,023 × 9 = £9,207
  • Inside London: £1,334 × 9 = £12,006

Processing Time:

Usually 3 weeks. Priority or Super Priority services are available for faster results.

  • Graduate Route Visa: 2-year post-study work visa
